Aegis Software Goals

Once again, Aegis is re-focusing on improving their software, and they are asking us for input. This time, it's big-picture stuff. We're not talking about the bugs and quirks that we deal with, but more about long-term projects--big changes that may take a few years to accomplish.

Since Aegis is now completely owned by MiTek, they have more development resources available than in the past. We have a chance to help them create a long-range plan for their software, and since we are one of their biggest customers, our opinions will count for a lot.

To that end, here is the beginning of a list of ideas for improvements to the Aegis programs:

  • An inventory tracking system for production, that will create cutting bills and batch paperwork based on up-to-the-minute inventory available. Bar-code scanners could even be used for inventory control.
  • Create Special Product Lists in Summary or a similar program--things like truss-to-bearing clips, bracing, stabilizers, etc.
Any other ideas? Any feedback on the ideas listed? Please add your thoughts in the comments. We will be updating this list over the next six weeks, so start brainstorming!
